Well, I know I said that I was going to keep the blogging happening fairly regularly, but surprise! Life had other plans. It happens every time – I commit to doing something, then get so ridiculously busy that everything just falls by the wayside. So, let me fill you in on what I’ve been up to during the last two or three weeks.
On the driving lesson front, I had my last driving lesson for a while. I am not finding the time to practice in between lessons, and so unfortunately the lessons are going to waste. I am going to wait until after I’ve had some time to practice, and then go about booking my last few lessons. This will probably only happen after I write my last exam on the 19 of November.
On the university front, I have completed all of my assignments (even the optional ones) except the creative writing portfolio that I need to submit at the end of the month. I’m not overly concerned about the time I’ve got to finish it in; I have always worked very quickly, and I now have up until my first exam on the 23 of October to focus solely on it. I’m feeling pretty positive about my exams as well; I’m certainly not the little ball of stress and nerves that I was before last semester’s exams. It helps that this time around I have a much better idea of what to expect, and I am making a conscious effort to control my ridiculous tendency towards stress and perfectionism. I am, however, a little bit concerned that UNISA is so slow with marking my assignments this semester. Out of the 12 assignments I had to submit, I’ve only received 6 marks, and the exams are rapidly approaching. I rely heavily on assignment feedback during my exam prep, and see a big difference in marks when I apply the comments and recommendations left for me on my marked assignments.
I must say that the assignment marks that I have received so far are very good indeed – I am impressing myself! I improved my poetry essay mark by a large margin this semester, mostly thanks to the lovely Dina-Marie who agreed to help me and read over my completed essay, giving me feedback, tips and hints. It obviously made a very big difference indeed!
On the make-up front, I have done another model test shoot with Karl. I’ll share the final photographs as soon as they are all finished.
Activity-wise, Jan and I went to Sexpo, which was quite a disappointment. The VIP tickets were a waste of time, the venue was horribly crowded and really far for us Pretorians to drive to, and the queues were unbelievable. I don’t foresee us attending again any time soon.
We have also been running lots of errands, driving all over to meet models for Jan’s honours project, and arranging and doing shoots for the same project.
Currently reading: Gaston Leroux’s The Phantom of the Opera. Gloriously melodramatic!
Recently finished reading: Erin Morgenstern’s The Night Circus. What an INCREDIBLE book. I am hoping to do a review of it when I have some free time.
Currently excited about: Going to Attrition a little bit later today, and having a lovely time meeting up with friends that I haven’t seen in ages.
