Here is my entry for the Ambra Photography & Makeup Monster High collaboration. A VERY different look for me, but lots of fun! I can’t go small with make-up hehe. 😀

On Wednesday of last week, I was finally on Facebook with my PC when I got a reminder from Inglot to enter their Valentine’s Day competition. Wednesday was the last day to do so, and I quickly filled in my details and entered, with a ‘why not” attitude.

And then on Thursday I was browsing and saw this:

I will share pictures of my loot as soon as I have a chance to take them. ^_^

Liebster Award Blog Nomination

February 20, 2013 § 1 Comment

I’ve been nominated for a Liebster Award! What an awesome little way to hopefully increase the number of beautiful people reading my inane ramblings. ^_^

Here are the rules:

1. Post 11 things about yourself
2. Answer the questions given to you by the nominator
3. Nominate 11 blogs (newer, up and coming blogs, with fewer than (or thereabouts) 200 followers) and inform them
4. Compose 11 new questions for your nominees
5. And don’t forget to post the Liebster Award Badge to your page (grab it from the internet)

1. I have been with my boyfriend, Jan, for seven years. I was 14 when we met, and he was my first (and hopefully last) boyfriend.

2. I don’t ever want children!

3. I adore musicals, stage shows, and all things bright, happy, and flouncy. I have the soundtracks to several musicals on my ‘Awesome’ playlist. I sing along theatrically. I also feel this way about the soundtracks of Disney movies. 😀

4. I still don’t have my driver’s licence. Driving seems to be proving more of a challenge than I am able to face. I am re-writing my learner’s for the second time on the 27th of February.

5. I really enjoy DIY home improvement, furniture renovation, and arts and crafts. It appeals to my perfectionist and creative sides.

6. I usually appreciate beautiful packaging more than the gift it contains.

7. I hate wearing high heels, and I very rarely wear lipstick.

8. When Jan did volunteer stuff on campus as a student, I usually went along to help…even though I didn’t study there. The lecturers and staff know me better than some of the pupils. I also have my very own Open Window alumni shirt as a joke. And now I am doing my studies through distance education…hmm. O_o

9. I don’t function on less than eight hours of sleep, which is why I didn’t decide to study at Open Window.

10. I’m an atheist, and consider it a very large part of who I am.

11. I am a superiority complex masking an inferiority complex. 😉

1. Have you ever done something you said you’d never do?

Yes; when I was a child I swore I’d never dye my hair or wear make-up. 🙂

2. If you had a magical power, what would it be? (Besides erasing the mouths of mean people, that would be my power.)

To instantly understand and perfectly remember everything. The constant struggle for knowledge would then finally be no more.

3. Are you bothered and confused by Suri Cruise and J.Crew child models? They are completely adorable, but resemble little adults. Thoughts?

I obviously don’t follow popular culture well enough to answer this question!

4. What is your favorite 80′s song? Don’t tell me you don’t have one. You have 10 years of music to choose from.

5. Do you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day? And drink coffee? If yes, tell me how you manage that without always having to pee. I really want to know.

I drink all the water but can’t handle coffee; and I pee a lot. There’s no way to do one without the other. 😛

6. What was the impetus behind creating a blog?

I thought that I might possibly perhaps have something worth sharing with the world. It came about at roughly the same time as my English literature studies, and I thought I could share some of my own writing and poetry with people who wouldn’t be able to tell me in person that they hated it. I am terribly insecure about my writing ability (or lack thereof).

7. Do you have any art on your walls? Take a photo.

8. Let’s pretend you are Indiana Jones. What would be the hardest challenge… snakes, rats, heights, or falling into the ocean?

Probably heights…

9. What is the last thing that made you laugh out loud?

My awesome textbook, called Leading Questions. The authors are truly very witty and it’s a pleasure to read and study.

10. Let’s face it, creatives think outside the box. Did you always know that you were a creative person? If yes, did you struggle to conform or did you always embrace it?

Yes, I’ve always known and luckily I had parents and a grandmother that encouraged me to explore and develop my creativity. I am far too strong-willed to even attempt to conform; I have always stuck out like a sore thumb. That’s what makes me unique, and I enjoy it. Conformists will never change the world. 🙂

11. Name one lesson or something about yourself that you learned last year.

I learned that I should never underestimate my intellect and the things that I can achieve with it. To trust in myself and my abilities, and not allow stress and worry to get the better of me. It was a very eye-opening year!

1. Did you have a nickname as a child, and do you have one now? What are they?

2. How many languages do you speak? What languages?

3. What’s your favourite quote?

4. Do you watch reality television? What shows?

5. Do you have a hero?

6. What would be your first action as ruler of the world?

7. Do you believe in love?

8. What is more important to you; friends, or family?

9. Did you enjoy school?

10. What’s the very first thing that you can remember?

11. What are you afraid of?

Contemplation and Imagination

Your hair is a wilderness
On my pillow
I want my fingers to
Dark and shining loops and curls
Look closer
Your hair against my skin
You against me
This is sweet.

For J.

There is something intrinsic about you,
Something vital.
There is a beat in you that answers the beat in me.
We are chest to chest, sometimes, we are gripped by a matching rhythm.

We are the give-and-take of dancer’s bodies, yielding and conquering.
Your silhouette answers mine.
Together we dazzle.

There is something eloquent about you,
Something that brings beauty to my lips.
You are the words that resonate with something deep inside
And draw stinging tears surface-side.

We are the hard lines and smooth curves that cleave tightly to one another.
There is a correspondence.
We are the whole picture.

I’m Still Alive, and So Is This Blog!

I know, I know…I’ve been terribly neglectful and haven’t posted anything in ages! My only excuse is that I was super busy with the preparations for my awesome 21st birthday party, and I was spending some unscheduled time with Jan because he’s so busy this year (with lecturing and honours).

I will share the pictures from my party as soon as I get them from Jan, but in the meantime, here’s what the invitation looked like.

It was really just the most incredible experience, and I’m so glad that I did something special to celebrate my big day. I had about 40 of my family and friends there, decorated the entire area beautifully, ordered an amazing cake and yummy platters, and had some really delicious punch for everyone. And the very next day, my actual birthday (the 9th of February) I was whisked away to Montecasino by Jan to enjoy a night out for two and a stay in the Southern Sun hotel. This mind-blowing experience involved a movie, drinks, gambling, the most wonderful gourmet meal at Punchinellos, birthday champagne while cuddled up between crisp white sheets, and a yummy buffet breakfast the next morning. I am truly a very lucky girl indeed, as this was my birthday present from mom and dad – on top of all the money and prep time spent on the actual party!

For Valentine’s Day I was treated to yet another amazing meal, this time at Zest Bistro in Lynnwood. This was also a surprise from my wonderful boyfriend, and such a special way to celebrate. 🙂

I have done two shoots so far this year, and I’m just waiting for the photographs so that I can share them.

Finally, my studies are going well, even though I can see that this year is going to be far more challenging than last year. I can only hope that first year prepared me for second year!

May this be the start of me keeping up with regular blog posts. 😉

Where Am I?
